PipeJacking Coverage
There are two service pipes to be relocated during the project.
This first pipe is a
twelve inch water line. It serves the Quonset/Davisville area. We will "jack" this new pipe
under the Amtrak main line.

This first photo shows the jacking pit or head. From here the forty two inch sleeve will be forced through the ground beneath the tracks for a total distance of seventy eight feet. |
| Caron Pipe Jacking Inc. was a Sub--Contractor for this job. They have done some impressive tunneling. This short run should be a snap. Here you can see our grade marks on either side of the 'doghouse'. | ![]() |

The first section of sleeve is placed against the jacking head. The sleeve fits snugly and squarely against the head. A big collar is fitted and the giant twenty ton rams do the work. Notice the orange painted foot marks on the sleeve. |
| We'll work through the night. Since we're crossing Amtrak's lines they have an active part in the project. There is a flagger here at all times who's job is to give clear and accurate train schedule data and clear anyne who has to cross the tracks. | ![]() |
Careful alignment is necessary.
If we go crooked we may come out at the bridge abutment
on in someone's backyard ! |

Dan Caron uses our marks to keep the pipe straight and level.
They can steer
the pipe if needs be and move it up or down. Dan uses a small transit to keep on course.
